United Way of Forsyth County Kicks Off Campaign

The United Way's 'Day of Caring & Campaign' kicks off on Friday.

The Day of Caring event provides volunteers from local businesses, schools, civic organizations and churches the opportunity to lend a helping hand to non-profit organizations throughout Forsyth County.

"It's always a great collaborative effort for people to go out in one day and make an impact in the community," said Leigh Crow with the United Way of Forsyth County.

Crow also told Cumming Patch that going into Friday's event they have more than 530 volunteers.

"We're thrilled about that--it's the largest group we've ever had," she said.

Last year nearly 500 volunteers participated in Day of Caring projects at 37 different locations throughout the county. In addition to spending time doing yard work and painting, volunteers also sorted food donations, read to children, spent time with seniors as well as participated in many other activities.

According to the United Way of Forsyth County, Friday will be a collective effort by many residents to make a difference in the community.

Join fellow volunteers and donors for the '2011 Day of Caring & Campaign' with breakfast, team photos and a day of giving back to the community.

Cost for the Breakfast is $10 per person at the door. RSVP online or by calling the United Way office at 770.781.4110.
