Back To School: Gwinnett County 2021-22 School Calendar

GWINNETT COUNTY, GA — Back-to-school planning has already begun in our area, with calendars available to help parents prepare for the first day in Gwinnett County.

The first day of school for Gwinnett County students is Wednesday, Aug. 4; Thursday, Aug. 5; or Monday, Aug. 9, depending on which grade the student is in. See below for details.

Heading into the upcoming school year, some dates are subject to change as the coronavirus pandemic nears its year-and-a-half point. A mix of in-person, virtual and hybrid learning is still possible in Gwinnett County.

On July 27, Gwinnett County Schools announced that it would mandate masks on district property and school buses for the coming academic year, vaccinated or not. Remote learning choices must be made by Monday, Aug. 2.

Here is the list of dates to know for this school year:

• First Day in-person for grades K, 1, 6 and 9, and small-group, with digital learning for all others: Aug. 4
• First Day in-person for grades 2, 3, 7 and 10, with digital learning for remaining students: Aug. 5
• First Day in-person for grades 4, 5, 8, 11 and 12: Aug. 9
• School Holiday (Labor Day): Sept. 6
• Digital Learning Day #1: Sept. 14
• Fall Break: Oct. 7-11
• Digital Learning Day #2: Oct. 20
• Early Release for elementary and middle schools: Oct. 20-21
