Dacula Looking for New Vision, Logo in 2030 Comprehensive Plan

The city of Dacula is looking to develop a new vision statement and logo as part of an update to its 2030 Comprehensive Plan.

A request for proposals for professional services to help update the plan, approved by the City Council on April 4, outlines several goals for the process, including significant community input:

The City of Dacula’s Community Goals element needs to be updated to effectively represent the community’s vision and marketing strategy. It is expected that 2-3 visioning workshops will be needed to gain meaningful participation and input from interested persons. Specific interactive discussions will be facilitated to gain input from the community, staff and the Vision Committee, to prepare a new City Vision statement and Logo. This is an organic process that allows the community to actively participate in setting the vision for the City’s future.

Here's what the city wants to consider in the logo design:

• What gives Dacula a sense of Presence (uniqueness, atmosphere, what distinguishes it from regional/surrounding areas);
• What gives Dacula a sense of Place (Physical attributes);
• Where lies the greatest Potential (future vision, economic development, and education sectors);
• What drives the Pulse (urban lifestyle, how exciting the city is);
• What defines the People (sense of community, hospitality and safety issues);
• How to incorporate the vision and marketing strategy of the city into the Logo
• Discuss examples of cities that have branded themselves successfully and carry the theme throughout their vision, logo, tag line, marketing, etc.
• How to avoid selecting a logo that could become outdated or trendy
• How to incorporate selected logo into branding circulation including color themes, tag lines, web content, promotional items, organizational materials, signage and way finding throughout town

In addition to Community Goals, the request for proposals outlines seven other elements the comprehensive plan will focus on: Needs and Opportunities, Community Work Program, Capital Improvements, Economic Development, Land Use, Transportation and Housing.
