Gwinnett Teen Makes Masks To Raise Money For Cancer Research

GWINNETT COUNTY, GA — When times are tough, heroes emerge. We all know someone who's making a difference right now as we live through unprecedented and changing times.

Here at Patch, we've launched an initiative to help recognize these heroes making a difference in their communities. Together with Ring, we're working to let all your neighbors know about these outstanding people and their stories.

Reason for recognition: Prielle put out a call on Facebook offering to make masks in exchange for a donation to Swim Across America-Atlanta. Swim Across America raises money for doctors and researchers who fight cancer, with Olympic champion Michael Phelps among its supporters. In Georgia, Swim Across America-Atlanta supports work at the Aflac Cancer and Blood Disorders Center of Children’s Healthcare of Atlanta.

One thing you should know about this nominee: Prielle began using her babysitting money to purchase materials for the masks and has since raised nearly $3,000.
