2 Injured, Including Deputy, In Paulding County Shooting: Sheriff

The shooter remained barricaded in a Hiram home Saturday evening after shooting a deputy and a woman, reports said.

HIRAM, FL — Two people, including a deputy, were shot in a Hiram neighborhood Saturday evening, the Paulding County Sheriff’s Office wrote in a Facebook post. Both victims were brought to area hospitals.

Deputies were in a standoff with the shooter in the Harmony Creek neighborhood off Virgie Ballentine Drive.

Law enforcement was called to the area for a domestic dispute just before 6:15 p.m., The Atlanta Journal-Constitution reported.

One of two deputies responding to the home was struck by a bullet. A woman who escaped from the home but later returned to it was also shot, reports said.

The suspect remained barricaded in the home with no contact with deputies as of 10 p.m., WSBTV reported.

Multiple agencies responded to the neighborhood Saturday, including the Powder Springs Police Department and the Cobb County Police Department, Fox 5 said.
