  1. Paulding County officials announced the temporary closure of Raccoon Creek Road to through traffic beginning Aug. 29. The stretch of road between 1330 and 1414 Raccoon Creek Road will be closed for a pipe replacement until further notice, but a detour will be provided.   2. The Museum of Flight in Dallas needs volunteers today to assist with the Home Depot Community Impact Project. Volunteers will help build outdoor display areas for the F-14 Tomcat, BTD-1 Destroyer, and the T-34, and lunch will be provided. Construction begins bright and early at 7:00 a.m. in the museum's "petting zoo" at the Paulding County airport. To register your interest as a volunteer, call 423-322-0521.   3. Century Communities, Inc., one of the top homebuilders in the nation, has announced the grand opening of two new communities in Dallas. The Riverwood and Summit Pointe neighborhoods will introduce a total of 147 new single-family homes to the area, with quick access to area attractions such as the Silver Comet Trail and the Paulding Place mall. With two more sites located in Winder and Homer, the company is set to open a total of four communities throughout the Greater Atlanta area. (PR Newswire)
  4. Major Tony Henderson officially retired from the Paulding County Sheriff’s Office yesterday after an over 25-year career with the department. Henderson, a Paulding County native, began as a jailer in 1987 and most recently served as the division commander of the Warrant/Civil Division. He also became one of the first Field Training Officers for the Sheriff’s Office in 1994 after becoming a Georgia Peace Officers Standards and Training (P.O.S.T.) certified F.T.O.
