Here are the top stories today in Dallas-Hiram:

  1. Hiram three-star cornerback Chase Tyler has been in contact with Michigan as they consider him for their cornerback board. Tennessee, Duke, Mississippi State, and Georgia Tech are also showing interest in Tyler, but it's unclear if Michigan is looking for him to visit on campus at this point. Meanwhile, Charles Herbert Flowers' (MD) unranked cornerback Lloyd Irvin, who recently received an offer from Michigan, is scheduling two visits to campus in June, an unofficial visit at the beginning and an official visit near the end of the month. 2. Dallas native Gabriel, from Troop 321, took on a project to build two covered picnic areas for his high school's marching band practice field. The structures provide much-needed seating and shade during band camp and marching band practice. Gabriel and his helpers successfully completed the project, showcasing how Eagle Scout projects can benefit schools and communities alike. To see more inspiring before and after photos of Eagle Scout projects, readers can visit the Extreme Makeovers collection on Scout Life's website. (Scouting magazine)
  3. Douglasville singer Megan Danielle has advanced to the Top 5 of American Idol after impressing the judges with a soulful tribute and a duet with fellow contestant Colin Stough. Danielle performed a tribute to her boyfriend with Alanis Morissette's "Head Over Feet" and teamed up with Stough for a rendition of Ed Sheeran's "Dive." Regular judges Katy Perry and Lionel Richie were absent, with Morissette and Sheeran stepping in as guest judges. Danielle is set to perform again on the next episode of American Idol on ABC on Sunday. (Patch)
  4. Opening up on Dallas Highway at the Avenue at West Cobb is Walk-On's Sports Bistreaux, a sports bar co-owned by Drew Brees, former quarterback for the New Orleans Saints and Falcons rival from 2006 to 2020. The Cajun-inspired restaurant will offer a variety of seafood, burgers, and salads alongside different beers and cocktails. The location in Marietta marks the second Georgia location, with the first situated in Warner Robins. Walk-On's Sports Bistreaux has more than 100 restaurant locations across 15 different states.
