Here are the top five stories today in Dallas-Hiram:
- Making plans for your Friday night in Dallas? Food Truck Friday kicks off Downtown at 6 p.m. Then, take your food to go to catch a movie! The Parks and Recreation department will be simultaneously kicking off the baseball season with a showing of The Sandlot. The movie should start at approximately 8:30 p.m. once the sun sets at Sara Babb Park, Field 2. (City of Dallas via Twitter)
- Exciting news for music lovers! Starting on Sep. 9, the Dallas Markets will be hosting some great bands on Friday nights. Every concert will start at 6 p.m. and be held every other Friday. Anyone under 13 will receive free entry, and anyone above 13 will pay $5. There will be a variety of music, from country to rock to a DJ lights show. - Interested in learning more about a career in public safety? The Hiram Public Safety Program is recruiting new members between the ages of 14 to 21 years old. Every Thursday from 6:30-8:30 p.m. the program meets at the Hiram Police Department and those interested are welcome to join! (Hiram Public Safety Cadets via Facebook)
- On Aug. 30 from 5 to 7 p.m., the Paulding County Board of Commissioners will host a planning meeting to discuss US 278. If you drive on US 278 often or if you're ever constantly caught in traffic, the committee wants to hear from you! You will be able to provide input on suggested improvements to the road. - Enjoy a night out on the town with a live performance at the Dallas Theater! This season's next show is perfect for the family. The Main Street Teens will present James & The Giant Peach on Jul. 30 and Aug. 1. If you're an Elvis fan, save the date for Got Elvis? Starting Chad Gibson on Oct. 15 and 16.
