  1. Hiram's municipal court administrator, Jason James, has been named as the sole finalist for the position of municipal court administrator for Dalton, Tennessee. James has been with the City of Hiram for six years and has served as the court administrator since June 2016. He holds a master certificate of court administration from the Georgia Council of Court Administrators and has worked in the municipal court field for over a decade. Pending approval from the mayor and council, James will officially be hired on May 15. (Chattanoogan)
  2. Four-star tight end Walter Matthews from Hiram is planning a visit to the University of Florida on May 13. Matthews is an attractive prospect due to his large 6 foot, 7 inches tall, 245-pound frame and his ability to catch the ball with ease. Florida has been recruiting him heavily, with previous visits to the school and meetings with both former and current tight ends coaches. Matthews is also being courted by other schools such as Florida State, Georgia Tech, Michigan, USC, Ohio State, and Colorado, and plans to take his time deciding on his next steps. (Gators Wire)
  3. Chris Cartwright, a PGA Professional from West Pines Golf Club in Douglasville, won the Georgia PGA Professional Championship with a 3-under par score of 141. Cartwright will lead five Georgia Section PGA Professionals in the 55th PGA Professional Championship, which will be held in the spring of 2023. The PGA Professional Championship attracts 312 competitors from the PGA of America's 41 nationwide sections, with the victor gaining an exemption into the next 10 PGA Professional Championships as well as six PGA TOUR tournaments over a 12-month period.   4. Kennesaw State University's Executive Master of Business Administration (EMBA) has been ranked the best in Georgia and 12th best in the world by CEO Magazine's 2023 Global Executive MBA rankings. The program, which has been ranked Tier One for nine consecutive years, offers executive coaching and a customized curriculum for professionals, including executives, mid-level managers, and entrepreneurs. The ranking factors include quality of faculty, faculty-to-student ratio, international diversity and exposure, class size, accreditation, professional development, work experience, gender parity, and instruction methods.   5. According to a ConsumerAffairs survey, Georgia had the highest rate of identity theft in the U.S., with 574 reported cases per 100,000 residents in the previous year. According to the survey, 30–39-year-olds made up 25.9 percent of victims in the United States, and credit card fraud was the most common sort of identity theft. To protect yourself, keep track of important information, watch your credit score, use complex passwords, and avoid responding to unsolicited requests for personal information. (AOL)

  • City of Dallas, Georgia – Government: On Friday, April 28, come to Courthouse Square for the FIRST Night Market. Local farmers, craftsmen, and bakers will populate Courthouse Square. Wonderland Party Plan will be there with the flower cart that sold out during the February Galentine's Night Out. Don't stop your shopping in Courthouse Square.   • Paulding County School District: PCSD will hold a period of public review for Mathematics Curriculum Adoption through May 12. Parents, students, and community members are invited to view the resources and provide feedback to help in the selection of K-12 Mathematics curriculum.
