- Eligible residents in Northwest Georgia can sign up for the Monkeypox vaccine and testing by making an appointment. The Georgia Department of Public Health Northwest Health District has received limited vaccine doses, which are available at no cost; only eligible residents who schedule an appointment may receive the vaccine. Register for an available appointment at the nearest monkeypox vaccination site — for Dallas and Hiram residents, that location would be the Paulding County Health Department in Dallas. - At the end of the month, the Paulding Chamber of Commerce will be hosting its Empowering Women Quarterly Luncheon. Donna J Briggs, CPA and author of "Lead Like A Woman" will be the featured guest speaker at the luncheon and Jim 'N Nicks Bar-B-Q will be catering. The event will take place on Aug. 30 from 11:30 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. at the Paulding Chamber. (Paulding Chamber)

- In Knox County, 11 indictments were handed down by a grand jury on Aug. 15. Among the indictments was one for a Dallas woman. Danielle R. Durrett was indicted with possession of fentanyl-related compound, a third-degree felony; trafficking in drugs, a third-degree felony; and aggravated possession of drugs, a fifth-degree felony. - The Georgia Department of Transportation is asking for feedback on a proposed project. Residents are asked to check out some potential road construction projects possible in Paulding County, including the State Route (SR) 6 Business (BU)/SR 61 at Legion Road: Intersection Improvements project, and provide comments and feedback by Sep. 2.
