New K-9 Team Welcomed At Paulding Sheriff's Office
Deputy Roy Key and K-9 Rex join the three other teams who comprise the K-9 Division at the Sheriff's Office.
PAULDING COUNTY, GA – The Paulding County Sheriff’s Office welcomed its newest members of the K-9 Division. Deputy Roy Key and K-9 Rex join the three other teams who comprise the K-9 Division at the Sheriff’s Office.
Deputy Key spent the last six weeks attending a K-9 handler training program at Shallow Creek Kennels in Sharpsville, Pennsylvania. While there, Deputy Key was assigned his new partner, K-9 Rex. K-9 Rex is an 18 month old Belgian Malinois imported from the Netherlands. K-9 Rex is a dual purpose canine that is trained and certified in drug detection and patrol functions. He weighs approximately 60 pounds and will live with Deputy Key and his family.
During the six week training period, Deputy Key and K-9 Rex completed training and were certified through the North American Police Work Dog Association in the following areas:
*Drug Detection
*Suspect Tracking
*Building Searches
*Area Searches
*Criminal Apprehension
*Article Searches
