Paulding Fire Captain, One Of County's 1st Firefighters Retires After 27 Years
Capt. Mark Morgan started with the fire department in 1995 as a volunteer, and became one of the earliest full-time firefighters in 1997.

PAULDING COUNTY, GA — After 27 years of service, Capt. Mark Morgan of Paulding County Fire Department retired Wednesday.
Morgan began his service as a firefighter in 1995, starting out as a volunteer. In October 1997, he was hired as one of the earliest full-time firefighters for Paulding County, according to a news release.
Before PCFD established a dedicated training division, Morgan taught new firefighters in "recruit school." More recently, he helped research and develop educational classes designed to ensure safe fire-ground operations, the release said.

In 2021, PCFD officials said Morgan showed a special devotion to the youth of the county by volunteering to teach fire safety education, where he received "outstanding reviews from parents and teachers."
Morgan wrapped up the last two years of his long career as a captain on Truck 2 in Hiram — one of the busiest fire suppression vehicles in Paulding County.
