Paulding Sheriff, Ex-Deputy Sued In Body Slamming Incident: Report
A man claims the former Paulding County deputy violated his civil rights when he slammed him onto the ground, a media report says.
DALLAS-HIRAM, GA — Paulding County Sheriff Gary Gulledge and a former deputy are being sued by a man claiming he was body slammed by the deputy in March 2022 during a pedestrian stop, 11Alive reported Wednesday.
The outlet reported Tyler Canaris filed the federal lawsuit Friday, claiming his civil rights were violated during the stop. 11Alive reported Canaris is asking for damages for pain and suffering, emotional distress and "loss of enjoyment of life."
The Paulding County Sheriff's Office sent the following statement to Patch:
