Back-To-School Food Giveaway, Vaccinations Offered In DeKalb
DeKalb families can get free groceries and free vaccinations — if desired — across the county this Saturday.
DEKALB COUNTY, GA — DeKalb County families can line up to get free food and free voluntary COVID-19 vaccinations this Saturday at the county's back-to-school food giveaway and vaccination event.
Residents can get packages of single-serving grits, juice boxes and cereal for students, along with a 20-pound box of Georgia-grown fruit and vegetables, as well as a 10-pound package of chicken hindquarters, county officials said in a news release.
Starting at 9 a.m., food distributions will begin on a first-come, first-served basis in a drive-thru fashion at the following locations:

- James R. Hallford Stadium, 3789 Memorial College Avenue, Clarkston
- Buck Godfrey Stadium, 2817 Clifton Springs Road, Decatur
- Rehoboth Baptist Church, 2997 Lawrenceville Highway, Tucker
- Big Miller Grove, 3800 Big Miller Grove Way #4811, Stonecrest
- Berean Christian Church, 2201 Young Road, Stone Mountain
Additionally, DeKalb County Board of Health and DeKalb Fire Rescue professionals will also offer COVID-19 vaccinations to residents age 12 and older at three locations starting at 8 a.m.:
- James R. Hallford Stadium, 3789 Memorial College Avenue, Clarkston
- Buck Godfrey Stadium, 2817 Clifton Springs Road, Decatur
- Rehoboth Baptist Church, 2997 Lawrenceville Highway, Tucker
“Parents should protect themselves and their children from this deadly pandemic by serving healthy food and getting COVID-19 vaccinations,” DeKalb County CEO Michael Thurmond said.

There's no requirement to receive a vaccination in order to receive food.
