Charges Leveled After Girl Hit By Car In Her Front Yard

LaDerihanna Holmes was playing in her yard when a speeding car struck her. Gabriel Fordham has been indicted in the incident.

DECATUR, GA -- In a crime that gained national attention after a shocking video went viral, the man accused of striking a little girl in her front yard with his vehicle has been indicted by a grand jury. Gabriel Jabri Fordham is facing charges, according to the DeKalb County district attorney's office, of serious injury by vehicle, hit and run resulting in serious injury, hit and run, reckless driving, failing to stop at a stop sign and failure to maintain lane. The indictments were handed down by a grand jury earlier this week.

On April 5, LaDerihanna Holmes suffered a fractured skull, broken pelvis and several other internal injuries. Holmes was struck by a 2017 Ford Fusion that sped into her front yard.

Fordham later turned himself into police. His attorney said Fordham was being carjacked during the incident, and the crash resulted from a struggle with the alleged carjacker. However, DeKalb DA Sherry Boston said Fordham "crawled out of the car and fled the scene without rendering aid or providing identification.”
