Decatur Area Woman Wins $467K In Lottery

Those of us who play the Georgia Lottery dream about hitting the jackpot, or at least enough for a new car.

A Decatur area woman's dream came true just in time for her 62nd birthday.   The Georgia Lottery Commission says Ruth Rice won $467,341 in a June 16 Fantasy Five drawing.

The lucky winner’s adult son purchased the Quik Pik on Father’s Day at BP Food Mart, 4840 Flat Shoals Parkway in Decatur.

The ticket matched all five winning numbers, and Rice’s son presented her with the ticket as a birthday gift.

“We were hysterical, laughing,” Rice said. “I feel awesome.”

“We don’t know what we’re going to do. We’ll take it day-by-day,” she shared. “We’re just engrossed in being able to win this prize.”

Her birthday was Tuesday. The winning numbers were 2-4-26-32-38.
