Decatur BBQ Blues & Bluegrass Festival Set For Saturday

Decatur BBQ Blues & Bluegrass Festival is set for Saturday, August 12

DECATUR, GA -- If you're a fan of the downhome blues, good food and a rolling good time, this weekend's Decatur BBQ Blues & Bluegrass Festival is the ticket. The event, now in its 17th year, is set for Saturday, August 12 in Oakhurst's Harmony Park.

The festivities kick off Friday evening with a music lineup that would make blues titans Muddy Waters and B.B. King proud. (SIGN UP: Get Patch's Daily Newsletter and Real Time News Alerts. Or, if you have an iPhone, download the free Patch app.)

The festival's origins can be traced to the year 2000 and the Decatur Preservation Alliance's efforts to save the old Decatur train depot at Candler and Howard streets. The site was targeted for demolition but the community rallied to save the site by striking a deal with the city of Decatur.
