Decatur Farmers Market Goes Whole Hog For Peach Jam

The Decatur Farmers Market will have something special Wednesday.

For Peach Jam, the celebration of Georgia's favorite fruit, there will be a whole roasted pig served as well as a peach barbecue sauce competition.

The market operates 4-7 p.m. at the Bank of America parking lot at Church and Commerce. Here are details provided the farmers market.

The Decatur Farmers Market BBQ sauce competition is people's choice, so rally your BBQ loving friends! And boy is the competition strong... contestants include Community Q, Farm Burger, LEONs Full Service, Chinese Southern Belle, S&J Pizza, Brick Store, Wood Fire Grill, No. 246, The Spotted Trotter, the Wrecking Bar, and Front Porch BBQ.  Tastes of all BBQ sauces are free.

Decatur's own Community Q BBQ and Riverview farms have generously donated the whole hog roast - guests can purchase BBQ sliders for $3 (or 2 for $5). Local Terrapin peach beer made with Georgia's own Pearson Farm peaches will also be available for a donation.
