DECATUR, GA — Communities in DeKalb County will see a heavy deputy presence throughout the county on Monday night, Halloween, DeKalb County Sheriff Melody M. Maddox said in a news release Friday.

The deputies are with the department's Field Operations Sexual Offender Registration and Tracking Unit and will primarily be in areas where known sexual offenders live, according to the release.

Maddox suggested parents and guardians visit the Sex Offender Registry database as they plan their trick-or-treat visits, according to the release.
