TSW Completes the Design of Peachtree Corners’ New Town Green

TSW, an Atlanta-based architecture, planning and landscape architecture firm, has completed the design of a signature community destination for the City of Peachtree Corners on Peachtree Parkway near Medlock Bridge Rd. in Gwinnett County and is currently working on the project’s construction documents. The two-acre Town Green will include a large, active oval lawn, interactive water feature, a botanical garden and two open-air pavilions including one with a stage.

Police Arrest Alleged Drug Trafficker At Canton Neighborhood Pool

A vehicle parked at a subdivision's pool during overnight hours led sheriff's deputies to make a drug bust in Cherokee County. A deputy with the Cherokee Sheriff's Office was patrolling an area in the vicinity of Sixes Road and Blankets Creek Drive near Canton on April 12 when he came across a vehicle parked in the parking lot of a subdivision's pool.

Euharlee Food Truck Friday Starts April 14

The 2017 installment of Euharlee Food Truck Friday will roll into town on April 14, held on the second Friday of each month between 6:30 p.m. and 10 p.m. from April to September at Frankie Harris Park. Residents are invited to bring a lawn chair and enjoy dinner from trucks ready to satisfy your appetite.

Cherokee County Restaurant Inspections

The Cherokee County Environmental Health Department conducted food service inspections April 5-12 at a number of establishments, including Blue Ridge Mountain Recovery, Kani House, Izumi Asian Bistro and Panera Bread. Details include reasons for lower scores.

Canton, Hasty Recognized For Academic Improvement

The Georgia Department of Education has recognized two Cherokee County elementary schools for making notable academic strides. Canton Elementary School STEM Academy and Hasty Elementary School Fine Arts Academy were removed from the state's "Focus" list of Title I schools requiring additional support in order to improve student performance. Title I schools enroll a large percentage of students who qualify for free or reduced-price lunch.

New Wine, Dessert Bar Gets Green Light In Woodstock

Woodstock could soon have a new wine and dessert bar situated in the heart of the city. The City Council approved a variance request for plans related to Rootstock & Vine, a wine bar and restaurant with a rooftop deck. The applicant, Woodstock resident Sean Daily, submitted variances to deviate from downtown architectural standards related to building height, interior ceiling height and the percentage required by city ordinance for glass window displays.
