Man Barricades Self In Home During DeKalb SWAT Standoff

SWAT officers found the man armed with a rifle inside the DeKalb County home, police say.

DECATUR, GA — A 49-year-old man was arrested after a standoff Wednesday night in the 2500 block of Monitor Court, DeKalb County Police said.

The standoff happened around 8:30 p.m. when officers attempted to serve a warrant relating to "ongoing disturbances in the community," police said.

The man, who police identified as Tobias Starks, locked himself inside the home, police said.

Crisis negotiators could not reach Starks by phone, so police said SWAT officers went into the home and found him inside armed with a rifle.

No one was shot, and police said they were able to take Starks into custody without serious injury.

He was booked into the DeKalb County Jail, police said. Charges were not revealed, and there were no jail records as of Thursday morning.
