• School Bus, Multiple Vehicles Crash In DeKalb (patch.com) — Drivers in Decatur faced delays Wednesday after a DeKalb County school bus and several vehicles were involved in a crash on Covington Highway near Wesley Chapel Road. Authorities reported no injuries, and officials are still determining whether any students were on the bus at the time.
   

• Man Barricades Self In Home During DeKalb SWAT Standoff (patch.com) — Neighbors in Decatur saw a major police response Wednesday night when DeKalb officers and SWAT surrounded a home on Monitor Court to serve a warrant tied to community disturbances. A 49-year-old man allegedly barricaded himself inside with a rifle before officers entered, safely disarmed him, and took him into custody without any reported serious injuries.
   

• Reporter's Notebook: Paddle 'n Fish, Decatur small business grants available, EATS is 'back' (saportareport.com) — Decatur has approved $113,316 in small business improvement grants and reopened applications through Jan. 23, giving local owners another shot at facade, buildout, and marketing support. The notebook also spotlights new Georgia Rivers paddling trips, a kids’ show at Dad’s Garage, a 2026 comedy club at Ponce City Market, and Wild Heaven Beer’s plans to revive the beloved EATS restaurant brand.
