Masked Vandals Attack DeKalb Government Center: Reports
Vandals broke windows Friday night at DeKalb County's government center; violence may be related to jail protests, say media reports.
DECATUR, GA — A group of around two dozen vandals smashed windows and spray-painted a wall Friday night at DeKalb County's government center in downtown Decatur, according to media reports. The vandals wore masks, hoodies and gloves, and the violence appears to be the latest in a series of protests about conditions at the DeKalb County Jail, the Atlanta Journal-Constitution reported.
The vandals attacked the Maloof Administrative Building, which houses offices for the county commission, chief executive and several county departments.
The group was caught on a surveillance camera using rocks, hammers and pickaxes to break windows and doors, the AJC reported.

At the same time, a protest took place a few miles away over the May 11 death of an inmate at the county jail, and other deaths that have occurred there, the AJC said.
The protests began in April, when inmates complained of mistreatment by guards and black mold found inside the jail, the newspaper reported.
