More Than 700 Flags Stolen Along DeKalb July 4 Parade Route
The Druid Hills Civic Association is now scrambling to replace the flags in time for next Thursday's parade.
DEKALB COUNTY, GA -- More than 700 small American flags along a July 4 parade route in Druid Hills have been stolen, and organizers are now scrambling to find more. The flags were placed this past weekend along a one-mile route for the Druid Hills Civic Association annual 4th of July parade. Sometime Sunday night, the flags were stolen and thrown away in nearby gutters and garbage cans.
Kit Eisterhold, president of the Druid Hills Civic Association, told Channel 2 he placed the flags every few feet along the route in his neighborhood when he noticed some of them were gone.
“A few hours later, I drive and more of them are missing up North Decatur (and) Oakdale,” Eisterhold said. “Then I realized that all of them are being picked up ... They took about 500 or so, maybe a little bit more than that.”

Fox 5 reported one neighbor's home security cameras caught the thieves pulling up the flags late Sunday night.
Some of the flags were then discarded in nearby bushes, Channel 2 reported.
