Suspect In Murder And Police Shooting Arrested

A man accused of killing his girlfriend and then shooting a DeKalb police officer was arrested Thursday night.

DECATUR, GA — A man accused of killing a woman and assaulting three DeKalb police officers has been arrested. Police arrested Otis Walker, 27, Thursday night at a Panola Road residence in Lithonia. Walker is accused in the shooting death of Aleka Simmons and the police assaults that took place on August 1 at a Lithonia residence.

Walker is charged with one count of felony murder and three counts of felony aggravated assault murder. According to his arrest warrants, Walker is accused of shooting an officer last week when police responded to a domestic dispute call.

The officer who was shot has been identified by DeKalb police as Derek Nunn, who is recovering from his injuries. Crime Stoppers Greater Atlanta was offering a $10,000 reward for information leading to arrest and conviction of Walker.

U.S. marshals and the DeKalb police K-9 unit assisted the DeKalb Sheriff's Office fugitive squad in arresting Walker.
