Teacher Under Scrutiny Quits, Principal At Top GA School Retires
DeKalb schools are investigating an allegation of inappropriate conduct between an ex-DeKalb School of the Arts teacher and a student.
STONE MOUNTAIN, GA — A teacher at the DeKalb School of the Arts has resigned in the wake of an investigation into an alleged case of inappropriate contact between the former teacher and a student.
On Monday, the DeKalb County School District said the incident is still in the early stages of an investigation. "The way the report was handled is being investigated as well," the district said. "During this process, the teacher resigned."
The system also said the school's principal is on paid administrative leave and is retiring.

DeKalb School of the Arts in Avondale Estates is consistently ranked as one of the nation's top high schools. Earlier this year, U.S. News & World Report ranked the school No. 8 in the nation.
