Third Arrest Made In Decatur Murder Of Gay Man

Ronald Peters was working in Decatur when he was shot to death back in early June. On Wednesday, police arrested a third suspect.

DECATUR, GA — A third arrest has been made in connection with the hate-motivated murder of a gay man in Decatur. On Wednesday, DeKalb sheriff's deputies and U.S. Marshals arrested Tyresse Johnson, 19, of Lithonia on murder and armed robbery charges. Johnson is accused of shooting Ronald Peters on June 4 and then taking his property.

Already arrested and facing charges are Shaleeya Nicole Moore, 18, of McDonough, Georgia, who was arrested in Statesboro, Georgia; and Joshua Cortez Ellis, 21, of Stockbridge, Georgia. Ellis was arrested in Clayton County on unrelated charges and has since been charged in Peters’ death.

Peters was from Pell City, Alabama, and working as a case worker for Regional Medical Group in Decatur when he was murdered.
