Three Suspects Sought In Violent Downtown Decatur Armed Robbery

The robbery happened early Sunday morning at Church Street and East Howard Avenue.

DECATUR, GA -- Police are looking for three suspects wanted in connection with a violent armed robbery in downtown Decatur early Sunday morning. Police said a man and a woman were walking in the 300 block of Church Street around 1:30 am when three men approached them. The victims then cross over East Trinity Place, when the suspects then began walking behind them. One of the suspects stopped to tie his shoe, while another asked a question about a washer and a dryer and asked to use one the male victim's cell phone.

The suspects then pushed the couple to the ground. The male victim began fighting back, when one of the suspects tried to pull a silver handgun from his waistband, but which fell to the ground. The male victim then fell on top of the gun to keep it from the attackers. Another suspect snatched the female victim's purse, while the male victim lost control of the handgun and the perpetrator regained possession.

The three suspects then ran northbound on Church Street towards East Trinity Place.

The male victim sustained minor injuries to his hands and scrapes to his knees due to the fall, while the woman suffered a laceration to the side of her head from striking the ground.

  • Suspect 1: Black male, late teens to mid-20’s, approximately 5'7”, slim build, caramel skin tone, with short dreadlocks, wearing gray or white basketball shorts and a dark hoodie.
  • Suspect 2: Black male, unknown age range, approximately 6'2”, slim build, wearing a blue hoodie and red shorts and in possession of a silver firearm.
  • Suspect 3: Black male, unknown age range, wearing a black hoodie.
