'Our Baby Boy Is Gone': 1 Wanted, 3 Arrested In Shooting Death Of 15-Year-Old At NYE Party
Three of four suspects have been arrested in connection with a 15-year-old boy's shooting death at a New Year's Eve party in Douglasville.

DOUGLASVILLE, GA — A 15-year-old boy was shot to death at a New Year's Eve party in Douglasville. Now, three people are in jail in connection with his death — and one person is still wanted.
A house on Deering Court was rented for one night for a party on New Year's Eve, and word spread via social media, police said. About 70-100 people eventually showed up to the party, many of whom were teenagers.
At some point, a group of four people from Cobb County showed up in a car driven by Zorree Peeples, 18, with Jhabre Wilson, 17; Karea Cowvins, 17; and Davion White, 20, as passengers, according to police.

After staying at the party for a time, the four people started to leave. At least two of the people in the car were armed and started shooting toward the direction of the party as they were driving away, police said.
One of the bullets hit and killed a 15-year-old boy, whose name has not been released.

"He was our baby and brought immeasurable love and joy to us and so many others. Now, he is gone forever. Stolen from us by a single bullet in the blink of an eye," said Maxwell Billieon, Los Angeles County commissioner, on behalf of the boy's family at a Tuesday news conference. "The pain that we feel is unspeakable. It is something that no parent or sibling should ever have to endure. Our baby boy is gone and there is nothing that can change that."
A motive for the shooting is unclear, but police said the charges are gang-related. Sparks said at least two of the suspects were involved in gang activity in Cobb County.
White was taken into custody in Oklahoma and is charged with murder, aggravated assault, Georgia Street Gang Act violations and various weapons offenses. Cowvins and Peeples were taken into custody and charged with being party to an aggravated assault.
Detectives are still trying to find Wilson, who faces charges of murder, aggravated assault, street gang act violations and various weapons charges. Anyone with information on his whereabouts is asked to contact Detective Andre Futch at 678-293-1633 or futcha@douglasvillega.gov.
Anyone who sees Wilson is asked to call 911. Police said he should be considered armed and dangerous, and advise people not to approach him.
More charges could be brought for anyone who's attempted to help the suspects, conceal evidence or committed any criminal acts related to the rental of the house and party organizing, police said.
"They killed the body, but they can't kill the spirit," Douglasville police Chief Gary Sparks said at the news conference. "This little 15-year-old citizen of Douglasville, Douglas County, [was] a son, a brother, a schoolmate, a baseball team member. The body gonna go away, but that spirit, the people that he touched — that young man will live forever."
