- A man was sentenced to two years of probation for attacking a woman and child in Douglas County. Randy Wright, a 40-year-old local to Douglas County, was convicted in January 2023 for battery and simple battery after the incident which occurred in 2018. The District Attorney's Office spoke in admiration of the victims' bravery to speak about the incident throughout the investigation. (Subscription: Douglas County Sentinel)

- A Douglas County Man was killed shortly after helping a friend who was released from jail. The murderer, who was under house arrest and was wearing an ankle monitor, cut off the ankle monitor and fled to Mississippi. Authorities were able to track the murderer down by following the paper trail left by his victim's credit cards. (Subscription: The Atlanta Journal Constitution)
- Douglas County High Schools received AP Honor Schools recognition after achievement and participation on the Advanced Placement tests during Spring 2022. The honor was delivered by State School Superintendent Richard Woods in February. All five high schools in Douglas County were counted among the 273 schools honored.
