- Douglas County School System's Trent North was been named Georgia's 2023 Superintendent of the Year yesterday. North said, "This award represents the teachers and families that helped build a school system focused on strategic and continuous growth. Their support, coupled with leadership from the Board of Education, helped propel students to success. Good superintendents could not exist without good governance or dedicated staff members." Now, North – who has been with the school system since 2017 – will compete for the title of National Superintendent of the Year. (WSB-TV)
- Georgia Power customers may see an increase in their electric bills in the future. The Public Service Commission will have the final say in Georgia Power's request to increase bills by a 12 percent hike to reach raise $2.9 billion over a three-year span. Customers could see an added $14 a month on their electric bills if it is approved. (WSB Atlanta)
- The Douglas County Board of Commissioners has received its 2021 audit report from Meredith Lipson, Mauldin & Jenkins. The full report of the annual financial audit is available through the Douglas County Government. (Press Release Desk)
- Douglas County will break ground on the Lee Road Widening project on Dec. 6, 2022. The ceremony will be held by the Douglas County Commission chair and the board of commissioners at the Southeast corner of Lee Road and Old Chestnut Log Road.
