5 Things You Need to Know Today
Here's what you need to know before ever leaving the house today, Saturday July 2.

1) Good morning and happy holiday weekend to ya. Well it's going to be hot, but I assume you had no doubt of that.
Today will be sunny with a 20 percent chance of showers and thunderstorms after 2 p.m., and a high near 93, according to the National Weather Service.Â
There's a 10 percent chance of showers and thunderstorms before 8 p.m. with a low around 67. Â

2) If you are heading out of town, then filling up at Marathon, Kroger, Texaco, RaceTrac or QuikTrip makes sense. At $3.38 a gallon, it's the cheapest gas in town. Of course, that's not saying a whole lot I guess. But it's cheaper than $3.39 at the Circle K on Stewart Mill Road.
3) The Douglas County Republican party will meet at 8:30 a.m. today at St. Julian's Episcopal Church, 5400 Stewart Mill Road. Go here for more information about the group's monthly meetings.

4) Villa Rica's sixth annual fireworks display will be this evening as it begins to get dark. There will be music, face painting, inflatable slides and other free activities downtown.
5) And lastly, on this day in 1964, U.S. President Lyndon B. Johnson signed into law the historic Civil Rights Act in a nationally televised ceremony at the White House.
