Advocacy Day on Capitol Hill
Thank You Rep Abigail Spanberger and your Legislative Assistant
Nearly 7 million Americans are living with Alzheimer's, including 164,000 in Virginia. As an Alzheimer's Association advocate, it is my to honor raise my voice on their behalf. As a caregiver of someone living with Alzheimer's/dementia, I understand firsthand the impact this disease has on families across America. My mom was affected by the disease for many years, which split our family, large financial burden and lack of social awareness. I just attended the 2024 AIM Advocacy Forum with my fellow Alzheimer's Association advocates from across the country. We want to express our heartfelt gratitude for your dedication in listening to our stories and incorporating them into our efforts to advocate for Alzheimer's and dementia treatment. We met with Rep Spanberger's Legislative Assistant on Capitol Hill to call for support of BOLD Reauthorization Act of 2024, which would continue strengthening the Alzheimer's public health infrastructure, empowering public health departments in communities throughout the nation to implement dementia and diagnosis, reducing risk and supporting the needs of caregivers. We deeply appreciate Rep Spanberger's continuous support and all the assistance provided as we embark on this new chapter. Your unwavering commitment and hard work are truly commendable and valued in serving our community and country. Thank you for your professionalism and steadfast support. Please join me and the Alzheimer's Association in encouraging Rep Spanberger to advance policies that will continue making progress in the fight against Alzheimer's and all other dementia. #ENDALZ #ALZFORUM
