BOE Chairman to Join DA's Office

Board of Education Chairman Jeff Morris is set to become a victim's investigator for the District Attorney's office if the commissioners approve the move today.

If approved today by the , the Board of Education chairman will join the District Attorney's office.

Jeff Morris, chairman since last year, will fill the role of senior victim's investigator following the retirement of the current staff member, according to the Douglas County Sentinel.

“Douglas County citizens are really lucky to have someone like Jeff Morris continue his nearly 25-plus-year career in public service by joining our office in our efforts to fight for the rights of victims of crime," said District Attorney David McDade in a written statement.

"Jeff has not only demonstrated his commitment to criminal justice issues by serving at the Department of Corrections for many years," McDade told the Sentinel, "he also has proven how committed he is to Douglas County and its people by serving on the Board of Education as a member and as chairman."

Morris, who represnts District 5, grew up in Douglas County and graduated from , according to the Sentinel.

Morris "raised his family here and has earned the respect of everyone in the justice system that he has worked with," McDade said.
