Ordinance Update:
City of Douglasville now requires individuals living inside of the city limits to obtain a fire safety burn permit through Douglas County Fire/EMS Department. Residents can dial 770-949-1212 after 8 am to determine if burning permits are being given each day or check the County website. Due to air quality concerns, the Georgia Department of Environment Protection enacts an outdoor burning ban for Douglas County each year that begins May 1st and continues through September 30th. No outdoor burning is allowed during this time period. During the other months of the year, County residents wishing to burn vegetative debris may obtain a free burn permit from their local fire station. Burn permits will only be issued the day burning is to begin, and if the winds are under 10 miles per hour.
