Chief: Child Witnessed Fatal Shooting in Douglasville

It was the second murder of the year in Douglas County.

A Douglasville man has been arrested in connection with Douglas County's second murder of the year.

While three children and his estranged wife were in the home Friday night, Raymond Charles McCoy allegedly shot Lauren Hudson four times at a Douglasville residence, Douglasville Police Chief Chris Womack told the Douglas County Sentinel. Two children slept through the fatal shooting, but a third child and McCoy's wife witnessed the incident, he said.

After the shooting, McCoy went to his father's house. Police apprehended him at 10 a.m. Saturday, according to the Sentinel.

McCoy, 30, is in the Douglas County Jail without bond.

Hudson's death was the second murder of the year in Douglas County. Jerry Wheeler, the owner of Lee Road Auto Service and the father of Douglas County Sheriff's Office Deputy Michael Wheeler, died June 19 in a violent homicide on Chattahoochee Drive, according to the Sentinel.
