Child With Gunshot Wound Dies At Douglasville Gas Station; Arrests Pending
Douglas County Sheriff's Office deputies said the child was shot before getting to the Marathon gas station on Steward Mill Road.
DOUGLASVILLE, GA — A child with a gunshot wound died Saturday at a Douglasville gas station, and Douglas County Sheriff's Office deputies are still working to learn more about the tragedy — but said arrests are pending.
Around 2:30 p.m. Saturday, a car pulled up to the Marathon gas station on Steward Mill Road and a witness, Jaquan Straughn, told WSB-TV that he heard a lot of yelling and screaming. Straughn said he saw two women pull a young girl out of the backseat.
"You could tell that if she was not already gone yet, she was close to it," he told the news outlet. "You could tell that she wasn't breathing at all."

Straughn said a boy with the family was crying and yelling that the little girl had been shot. The sheriff's office confirmed a child was killed but did not indicate a cause of death, WSB-TV reported.
According to 11Alive, deputies and EMS performed CPR on the child, but she did not survive her injuries. However, Straughn told WSB-TV that officers did not perform CPR for several minutes after they arrived on scene, even as multiple witnesses yelled for them to do so.
