Christmas-Tree Lighting Goes Virtual in 2020 In Douglasville

This year's Christmas-tree lighting, to be streamed on Facebook, will kick off Douglasville's 2020 Celebration of Lights.

DOUGLASVILLE, GA — The coronavirus pandemic hasn't stopped the City of Douglasville from staging its annual Christmas-tree lighting. This year it's online, and it marks the start of the city's Celebration of Lights.

The 2020 Douglasville tree lighting will be streamed on Facebook Live on Saturday at 6:30 p.m., with the city inviting viewers to enjoy it "from the comforts of your home in your Christmas PJs and fuzzy socks." Hosted by Mayor Rochelle Robinson and the Douglasville City Council, the lighting will be followed by a special visit from Santa Claus.

In addition to the great tree, O’Neal Plaza will be getting new lighting displays and decorations this year. Families are invited to come and walk the downtown area and enjoy the beautiful new displays. This walk-thru experience will allow citizens to still celebrate the Christmas season safely without gathering in large groups.

The community can vote on their favorite decorations on the City of Douglasville Facebook page.

All Douglas County residents are invited to show their holiday spirit and enter their decorated homes into the “Deck the Homes” Holiday Decorating Contest.
