- A University of North Georgia (UNG) undergraduate poster about the Comparison of Pool Characteristics of Granite Outcrops at Clinton Nature Preserve in Douglas County won a first-place award at a Georgia conference. A group of UNG students and mentors presented their project at the Georgia Chapter of The Wildlife Society annual meeting in March and won. The meeting is a smaller conference that is specific to wildlife and aims to be an affordable and local option for Georgia students interested in pursuing wildlife sciences. - The Douglas County School System is now accepting applications for School Choice Transfers for the 2023-2024 school year. Parents/Guardians may request to transfer their child to another public school if space is available once assigned students have been enrolled. The School Choice status will be available through the Scriborder dashboard. All applications must be received by 11:59 p.m. on Thursday, Apr. 27. (Douglas County School System)
- The Motherβs Day Brunch and Bubbly hosted by Chef Shu at The Farmerβs Table and Sweet Shop will be on Sunday, May 14 at 12 p.m. There will be smooth jazz, R&B, and gospel music by DJ Michelle, photo opportunities, and a special gift for all mothers. - Douglas County Parks and Recreation is hosting an afternoon of fun Spring Fling event Saturday, Apr. 22 at 12 p.m. There will be a petting zoo, carnival rides, rock wall, face painting, balloon twist, DJ, food trucks, and more!
