Coronavirus: 12 Infections But No Deaths At Douglasville Facility
Twelve infections of residents but no deaths at a Douglasville nursing home were reported Friday by the Georgia Department of Health.
DOUGLASVILLE, GA — Only one Douglasville nursing home has reported cases of coronavirus infection — but no deaths — in statistics released Friday by the Georgia Department of Health.
Twelve residents — or roughly 6 percent — of the 206 residents at Douglasville Nursing and Rehabilitation Center have tested positive for COVID-19, the disease caused by the new coronavirus. Four employees also have tested positive.
On March 13, it was announced on Douglasville Nursing and Rehab’s website that all non-medical visits were temporarily suspended. The Georgia National Guard cleaned the facility last Wednesday.

As of Friday evening, 233 cases of COVID-19 and six deaths total were reported in Douglas County by the Georgia Department of Health. A 32-year-old man with underlying health conditions was one of the victims. The other five were 56 or older, and all but one had an underlying condition.

Nursing homes and long-term care facilities have been hit especially hard — with 250 deaths out of 689 total as of Friday across Georgia, such facilities account for more than a third of the state’s deaths. Older people and those with chronic underlying conditions are especially vulnerable to the coronavirus.
