Nearly one in five residents of a Douglasville nursing home have tested positive for COVID-19 — but it could be worse.

DOUGLASVILLE, GA — Almost 20 percent of the residents of a Douglasville nursing home are infected with the coronavirus, and three residents have died from it.

Numbers released Wednesday by the Georgia Department of Health show that 37 of the 186 residents at Douglasville Nursing and Rehabilitation Center have tested positive for COVID-19, the disease caused by the novel coronavirus. Five employees also have tested positive. The statewide average for positive tests among residents in assisted-care facilities is about 12 percent.

The three deaths at the nursing home are more than a quarter of the 11 deaths recorded so far in Douglas County.
