  1. Douglas County Police are investigating a series of threatening social media posts that most recently affected nearby Lithia Springs High School. The school administrators and police investigated the message and concluded there was no threat to the school, but safety measures have been put in place as a precaution. The name of the suspect has not been released. (Fox 5 Atlanta)
  2. Bark In The Park is back today, May 6, from 10:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. at Fowler Field Park. There will be multiple activities for you to participate in along with local vendors and of course treats for all furry friends. (City of Douglasville)
  3. The Cultural Arts Council Douglasville/Douglas County (CAC) is featuring artist Laura Smith in its May Pop Up Arts Shop. Smith, who specializes in urban-landscape-inspired painting styles, often paints bridges or street scenes. The Pop Up Arts Shop offers a variety of gifts created by local artists, with a new artist featured each month at the CAC in downtown Douglasville.   4. Next week is National Travel and Tourism Week. In honor of the 40th anniversary, Douglasville will be celebrating all week from Monday, May 7 through Sunday, May 13. Stop by the Douglasville Welcome Center for a free treat any day of the week. (Douglasville)
  5. Homewood Suites will be opening a new location in Douglas County this fall. Construction is underway and is expected to finish in August 2023. The hotel will be located off Bob Arnold Boulevard in nearby Lithia Springs. (Douglas County & West Georgia News)
