Now more than ever, the arts need your support! Since 2008 around 80% of school district funding in the state has been cut. Art programs consistently are the first classes to be cut. We know from research that 93% of Americans believe that Arts are vital to providing a well-rounded education. This is backed up by the fact that 3x more students who were involved in the arts completed a college degree as opposed to their non-art peers.
At a time when children are being exposed to the world and developing their interests, there is no better lesson than for kids to be exposed to the arts. teamwork, critical thinking, and problem-solving are just a few of the skills that can be taught through the arts. Developing these hard and soft skills are valuable to all. Young minds who learn these skills are preparing for a successful future in any career they choose.

The CAC provides high-quality cultural events and arts activities in our community. The ARTventures performances are a monthly initiative by the CAC to provide curriculum-based learning in a fun creative way. The CAC partners with artists and performers to present the Artventures program. The artists then use their passion to teach a quick lesson to various schools around the Douglas County School System. In October, the talented Atlanta Chinese Dance Company gave an electrifying performance and lesson based on the cultural history of China to Dorsett Shoals Elementary School.
CAC Summer/Spring Arts camps offer an option for kids to explore the arts while school is out! Campers enjoy exploring painting, sculpture, music, dance, theater, outside activities, and meeting new friends. A portion of donations goes towards providing scholarships for students who may not have originally been able to attend.
