DOUGLASVILLE, GA — Video from the rescue of two dogs from a swimming pool by Douglas County deputies is grabbing lots of attention on social media, and the sheriff’s office couldn’t be prouder.

The video below was recorded the evening of Aug. 24, when Deputies Michael Aziz and Elias Johnson found two beautiful huskies — tired and scared — treading water in a backyard swimming pool where they’d apparently fallen in.

“The dogs could not get out and looked exhausted,” Douglas County Sheriff’s Office spokesperson TJ Jaglinski said Friday. “There wasn’t time for animal control to arrive with the proper tools to pull the dogs out of the water.”

Instead, Aziz used a blanket to pull the first dog out of the pool, Jaglinski said. Aziz saved the second dog by pulling it out by the collar.

“Thanks to Deputies Aziz and Johnson these beautiful huskies will be just fine,” Jaglinski said. “Sometimes to protect and serve requires going the extra mile.”
