  1. The district attorneys from Dekalb and Douglas counties will be co-hosting a performance called "JustUs" that will tell the stories of people impacted by incarceration. DeKalb County District Attorney Sherry Boston and Douglas County District Attorney Dalia Racine are partnering with Motus Theatre for the event. During the performance, retired detective David Quinn and broadcast journalist Monica Kaufman Pearson will join Boston and Racine in reading autobiographical accounts from the justice system alongside musical numbers. The community is invited to attend the free event on Apr. 25. (Press Release Desk)
  2. Douglas County Police are investigating a motorcycle accident that happened around 4:30 p.m. on Monday afternoon when the motorcycle crashed into another vehicle on Douglas Blvd. The street around the accident was closed for several hours, and county responders offered counseling services for those involved at the scene. The department has not stated whether any injuries were reported due to the accident. (Atlanta News First)
  3. The Mill Village Community Garden Planting Day by Keep Douglasville Beautiful is coming up on Saturday, Apr. 22. The event, where attendees will help to plan the community garden, will offer a great opportunity to learn about planting vegetables and flowers while preparing the garden to produce a great harvest. The event is open to all who want to help out and learn about planting a garden, and participants are encouraged to bring water and their own gloves. (City of Douglasville - Government via Facebook)
  4. The Douglas County Board of Commissioners approved the Douglas County District Attorney's Office proclamation to recognize Apr. 23-29 as National Crime Victims’ Right Week. As part of the presentation created for the proclamation, the District Attorney's Office also recognized the judges for all of the great work that they do and for their service to the county. The judges and the rest of the county officials have been instrumental in recognizing and upholding victims' rights within the county, making the system work more efficiently.
