  1. Yesterday afternoon, Jan. 10, Douglas County firefighters were able to extricate a man who was trapped in an overturned tractor-trailer in Douglasville. The driver was then airlifted from the site of the incident, at North Burnt Hickory Road and Connally Trail near the Paulding County line, to a hospital. Both the Georgia State Patrol and the Department of Public Safety are investigating. (Douglasville Patch)
  2. On Jan. 6, Douglas County leaders hosted a ribbon-cutting ceremony for the new Youth Innovation Center at 5905 Stewart Parkway in Douglasville. According to a news release, the center will be a "one-stop shop facility where technology, aesthetics, youth, and supportive services will be provided." Services offered at the center will include psychiatric services, job coaching, family and marriage counseling, supervised visitation, and GED prep and tutoring. The County also said the center will be used for some "proceedings and programming" of the Douglas County Juvenile Court Services. (11 Alive)
  3. The City of Douglasville's Mayor Pro Tem, Terry S. Miller, has been selected by the American Institute of Architects (AIA) to serve as the Atlanta Board of Directors Public Director for 2023-24. According to AIA, Miller will advocate for "better architectural design with public entities and civic bodies throughout the Atlanta metro region" in his role as Public Director. (Press Release Desk)

The Georgia Department of Human Services’ Division of Family & Children Services began issuing Summer P-EBT, benefits for free and reduced meal program-eligible children during the summer months.
