- Douglas County's probate court faces closure due to a $5,000 yearly cost, which has caused a rift between Probate Judge Christina Peterson and Sheriff Tim Pounds. Peterson came up with the idea of opening the court on Saturdays, but the sheriff has demanded that the Probate Office reimburses the cost of paying deputies to operate on Saturdays, or he won't open the court. The sheriff believes that it's a waste of taxpayers' dollars, as only 20 people attended the previous Saturday's opening. (11Alive)
