DOUGLASVILLE, GA -- Douglas County Parks and Recreation through the Board of Commissioners held a grand opening ribbon cutting ceremony Saturday for the new Dog River Park Disc Golf Course. Following the event, the Douglas County Disc Golf Association sponsored a disc golf tournament where half of the proceeds from entry fees went to charity.

The brand new Dog River Park Disc Golf Course, now open to the public offers many elevation changes and all wooded holes. Competitive players describe the heavily manicured course to be one of the toughest, but fairest disc golf courses in the country. Tournament participants who played the course say it’s a challenge for both pros and amateurs.

“Douglas County celebrates a dream,” Park & Recreation Committee Chairman Henry Mitchell III, said. “A dream of the Douglas County Disc Golf Club that took two and half years in the making, but not without the collaborative efforts of many.”
