- On Nov. 29, the Douglas County Board of Commissioners voted a 2-2 tie in an amendment to an ordinance which would allow alcohol to be consumed by the public in county parks and buildings. Due to the split vote, the ordinance was not passed. Commissioner Henry Mitchell – a possible tie-breaker – did not attend the meeting. (Subscription: Douglas County Sentinel)
- A woman was arrested for allegedly changing a price tag on an item amounting to $52 at a Douglas County Walmart. Barbara Schaefer, 32, was arrested for changing the price tag of a set of trailer lights to a lesser amount at the Walmart on Thornton Road in Lithia Springs. She was arrested on a warrant for the theft charge, as well as a possession of drug related objects charge when a pink meth pipe was found during the arrest. (Subscription: Douglas County Sentinel)
- The Douglas County Sheriff's Office recently swore in Investigator Natalie Poulk to their team. The office has openings for positions, such as jailer, certified deputy, communications officer, and communications officer trainee.
