Douglas Co. Teacher Charged With Child Molestation: Sheriff
Authorities say the middle-school teacher had inappropriate late-night conversations with multiple students unbeknownst to their parents.
LITHIA SPRINGS, GA — A Douglas County teacher is facing charges after being accused of having sexually explicit conversations with multiple students during the night hours.
The Douglas County Sheriff's Office said the teacher, who was identified as Andrew Goswick, worked at Turner Middle School. The sheriff's office began investigating Goswick on Oct. 4.
Authorities said sexually explicit material and conversations took place between Goswick and the students. Their parents did not consent to or have knowledge of Goswick's late-night communication with the girls, authorities said.

Search and arrest warrants were executed Friday at Goswick's home, and Goswick was charged on suspicion of felony child molestation, authorities said.
"The Douglas County School System is deeply troubled by recent allegations against an individual," school officials said in a statement to Patch, never speaking of Goswick by name.

School officials said he was placed on leave once DCSS learned of the allegations, launching its own investigation, and noted termination proceedings have begun.
"Safeguarding the well-being of our students is our top priority, and student safety remains non-negotiable. The alleged behavior is unacceptable and contradicts the values and professional standards we require of all employees," school officials said in the statement.
"Our school system will continue to support state and local law enforcement to ensure a thorough and complete investigation. However, the district is unable to provide any additional information regarding the allegations. Any inquiries about this matter should be directed to the Douglas County Sheriff’s Office."
Goswick is being held at the Douglas County Jail without bail, authorities said.
